Barstool Sports' Dave Portnoy Visits Mamma Mia's

Internet-famous influencer Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports, recently visited Mamma Mia's to see what we've been doing right for 50 years. The celebrity, who has over 5 million followers on his personal account and over 16 million followers on Barstool Sports, has a devout following for his "One Bite" pizza reviews across the nation. After a Mamma Mia's fan shouted to Portnoy at a recent Zac Bryan concert at Gillette Stadium to, "Go to Mamma Mia's in Plymouth!," the reviewer listened. The next day, he made a trip to the original Mamma Mia's, which opened in Kingston in 1974. He placed an order via phone, and staff had no idea they were being reviewed until a patron ran in from the street and alerted them. By that time, Portnoy was in front of the iconic building located on Main Street in Kingston taking his "one bite." Passersby recognized the internet sensation and began pulling over and stopping traffic. Gladly, and with no surprise, he awarded Mamma Mia's classic pie and 50-year family recipe sauce a high score of 7.8, one of his highest ratings in Massachusetts.

Within minutes, the phones at the restaurant started ringing off the hook. The Kingston community seemed to catch wind of what was happening even faster than the people in the building. Facebook communities such as "All Things Plymouth" helped spread the word. Read more at the Patriot Ledger online here
